Kennedy Engasser, named Creative Loafing's Runner Up Best of the Bay Spoken Word Poet, has dedicated herself to sharing stories that leave a smile on the face of the audience.

She began her journey at only 14 years old, representing Tampa's HeardemSay on Brave New Voices 2019, Las Vegas' Final Stage. She has carried the competition into her adult life, representing Tampa's Growhouse at SouthernFried 2024, Pompano, where she ranked 12th overall poet.

When she entered high school, her passion for performance expanded into the theater world. By 17, she had successfully produced a weekend of originally written and directed one-act shows; an event which would become a tradition for the next three years, selling out the audience each time. By 19, she had a playscript chosen for Julia Genova's One Act production in NYC.

Today, she continues to spread her love of storytelling. From poetic personal anecdotes, to mindless satirical skits, Kennedy appears at multiple events across the country. She has worked as an actress, a poet, a playwright, a director, a producer, a workshop instructor, and more.
